Something's Afoot/Quadruple Helix

Well, thus far, 2009, music-wise can be described in my book as, meh. That doesn't mean everything sucks. The only people still doing their thing is alternative bands. I've seen SO many bands come out this year. Britney Spear's "If U Seek Amy" sounds like "Womanizer" which sounds like Christina Aguilera's "Keep Getting Better". I'm not sneak dissing, it's the truth.

I finally caught a snippet of Lil Wayne's "Prom Queen" video. I still don't dig the song, but I respect his experiments, like K.West. In fact, Wayne credits his "rockin' out" to Kanye West for reinventing his image. I was fooled, but truth is, Wayne CAN play a guitar. He learned from Kid Rock, so I'm on the edge of my seat to hear The Rebirth, due in June.

I'm seeing this year in music is about standing out and being different. I'm hearing more "Plies-like" cuts from Mike Jones. He's repeating himself less and less everyday. I'm proud. Jim Jones is back on that silly Dipset shit. "Nananana Na". The fuck is that?

I'm also seeing growth within our band here. Grimm has FINALLY stopped being insecure about his style. Lemme tell you, if you couldn't rap, I WOULD NOT FUCK WITH YOU.

Wow, been a while since I did that....Anyway. During a store run with the band, it came to my attention that M.T. Bag is one person. I haven't quite figured out the name of that person, but he's a cool muthafucka. Maybe his name is Richard N. Cider.  One time, Ace said, the opposing members were different stages of himself. Skeem was elementary school him, Grimm was high school him, and I was college him. Indeed, that is his case. If we pan the camera over, who are we to we? Let me know. We walked in a square at the same exact pace, equal distance. It was crazy. Back to the music....One of my favorite contemporaries, Nickelback, reminds me of a rap group. Their songs have rap subject matter now. I guess I'm late, but "Something In Your Mouth", doesn't that sound like rap shit? "I Wanna Be Rock Star" isn't really song you'd expect from rock stars.

Speaking of rock stars. Have you seen Guitar Hero: Metallica commercials?

Quadruple Helix is going to Cin City this weekend. I pitched the idea to my mother, and it seems she has finally hopped on the M.T. Bag bandwagon. So, I got wasted earlier and thought of some names I would like to call a band. Enjoy:
