It's another post about food...You may be familiar with Burger King's "Whopper Virgin" Campaign. Some see it as exploitation, I see it as good business. You can't ask an American their opinion on Burger King versus McDonald's, it's not fair. The "politically correct" interest group in the U.S say Burger King is dissing the Third World. Hmm...I don't take kindly to that.
As a cruel American company, why not ask a bunch of impoverished folks who probably don't even eat meat, ya? The results add up though...The Whopper does taste better than The Big Mac, the problem is The Mac's thousand island dressing. (That shit's gross)
So I did a little research on the diets of the natives from the countries tested upon.
First up, Bucharest, Romania. A lot of Internet users say this isn't a run down city at all, it has a major university and everything...I have never heard of this location, but let's look at the diet of the Romanian population. As usual, the upper class can eat whatever they would like. The middle and lower class, they pay their bills and barely have enough cash to fill the fridge. They have grocery stores of course, but it's much cheaper to go to a street market. Pork is popular amongst the upper class and they can eat things like fish and beef on a daily basis.(Ok, so meat is on the diet) To the lower class, treats like ice cream are considered luxuries. Overall, the Romanians are healthier than us because they eat a lot of fresh foods, no preservatives and such. Alright, well, it isn't too criminal to give a Romanian a cheeseburger.
Next, we got Kulusuk, Greenland. I don't know too much about this (big ass island, country, [continent] maybe) at all, so this is all new to me. They eat a lot of sea birds, giving them higher blood pressure than most black folks....ok, that was wrong....shit, let's keep it moving. Ok....I can't find too much on the food diet up there, I'm starting to think this place doesn't exist, but I still assume there's a cow or two up there. Oh,well, keep goin'.
Last, Baan Khun Chang Kiean, Thailand. I've seen Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel, and these people eat EVERYTHING. Maybe not the hamburger in its American fashion, but I've seen cows, goats, lamb, snakes, pigs and so much, much more.
Ok, so after my brief research on the Burger King thing, I've found that absolutely nobody should be offended. The participants willingly ate the hamburgers, if it was against customs or beliefs, they wouldn't have done it. Culture shock? I think not, that's good business, and you should buy it...
"Was it good for you, Whopper Virgins?"
