They already allude to themes of Homosexuality, Greed, and you know the episode where they were cussing. I've seen a handful of episodes that contain jokes I couldn't believe they'd stick in a child's show. Either way, I like Spongebob the way it is.
More recently, I was informed by Grimm and Ace that my beloved Poke'mon too was watered down for younger audiences. Grimm informed me of the original concept to Pocket Monster. Poke'mon were used as back up weapons in brutal fights that occasionally ended in death. Ace told me of banned episodes that I HAD to research.
(James with inflatable boobs. I mean, really, at age 9-10, we didn't know James was "heeey!!"?)
This episode was originally banned because of James' statement towards Misty. Something along the lines of "Maybe when you're older, you'll have a chest like this!" The episode was later allowed to be aired, but any scenes with James in "drag" were deleted.
(Clink, Blap, Blap, Blap, Blap, Click-Clack, BOOM!)
This one was banned because guns were getting put in people's face and warning shots got fired, so? With the removal of this episode, continuity kinda stumbled. When we watched the first Poke'mon movie, Ace mentioned the stampede of Tauros, something about them ALL being Ash's...This episode shows where Ash caught them. To avoid any gaps in the story, an episode contains Ash reminiscing about catching the Poke'mon.
Titled "The Ice Cave", this episode was banned for one and a half reasons. The BIG deal: the Poke'mon, Jynx, was interpreted as a racial diss towards Black folks, with the jet-black skin and bright pink lips. You know, like the mascot for Bamboozled, or Mr. Bojangles, a spook, a coon, a picaniny, etc...People love to complain! The half reason that was later labeled a myth, the episode depicted Influenza, which could've been taken as a Pop Culture diss towards China and the SARS breakout.
Three episodes were also banned, following 9/11. Some towers come down in a show and all of a sudden, we're insensitive towards such a tragedy, give me a break! I think the worse thing that has anything to do with 9/11 is this:
Party Music by The Coup was originally set to release on September 11, 2001...Dead ass serious! I mean, this is the biggest coincidence I have EVER seen. The album was halted the day of, and was later released November of that year.
Way off topic, but who cares?
